Further to a previous post, it looks like Android does still have downsides. Unlike the iPhone there is no PAYG yet, and the headphone jack is non-standard. It also looks like they're going to do the usual thing of ripping off UK customers by charging them a contract rate of £40 per month (c.f. $30 in US).

No answers yet on whether they can differentiate themselves by allowing users access to the internet from a laptop, and whether VOIP apps like Skype can be run...

T Mobile G1 and Android market

Details of Google's answer to Apple's iPhone, the G1, are emerging. Sounds like its camera will be 3MP (that's 50% more) and will also include a compass. Nothing to rave about yet but the price sounds like it could be reasonable too at around $200. No decision's been made yet but I'm glad I resisted and didn't buy the iPhone the other day! Android market will also surely be more open than the App Store... The manufacturers are HTC, a Taiwanese company - another thing in their favour!

Gwyneth Paltrow has named her baby girl Apple. I mean, that's just asking for abuse! Any guesses on the middle names? Cider, Juice, Schnapps? Maybe Apple is the middle name and she's actually called "Bad"? There must be some logic to it! Is it because Gywneth's real name is "Tree" and apples don't fall far from the tree...? Hmmm. Is it that she craved apples during the pregnancy? I'm just glad that I was called David, especially since my mum craved tomatoes and this stuff the taiwanese love to eat called smelly tofu. (It's actually quite nice.) Perhaps there was a little oversight with my chinese name though i.e. with it being "ha" which can be literally translated as "leisure pavilion". That's right, I'm a Butler in a pavilion of leisure. Maybe it's fate, as I'm writing this at my bachelor pad in a fairly leisurely manner. I'm not joking, there are blocks of flats in Taipei called my name ~~and a dodgy motel or two I bet~~.

Apple Sidra Vender Please?

This is the most beautiful drink in the world... and it appears that you can only get it in Taiwan! Argh. I was practically drowning in the stuff for the 2 weeks I was out there. Does anyone know where I can find Apple Sidra in London? Some chinese supermarket maybe?
